Pricing

Three plans, one Shopify invoice.

Starter, Growth and Premium each carry a monthly conversation allowance and a 14-day free trial. The plan is a Shopify app subscription, so the charge arrives on the Shopify invoice you already pay and your card details stay with Shopify.

What the billing period decides

Both periods are printed on every card, and the yearly figure is ten monthly payments for twelve months of service. The period settles a second question too: what happens on the conversation after the allowance.

Monthly: an overage band with a printed edge

Conversations past the included allowance land in an overage band. Each one carries the per-conversation price on your card, and the band has a size — also on the card. Included plus overage is the absolute ceiling for the period, and that sum is the largest bill the period can produce.

Reporting those extras to Shopify runs behind a deployment switch, and in the configuration we ship today that switch is off. While it stays off a monthly plan behaves the way its yearly twin does: the included allowance is the ceiling, and the conversation after it goes to your team.

What each plan includes

Every line below is printed from the same table the billing code reads, and a test compares the two line by line. Change a price in the code and this page fails its own build rather than going quietly stale.

Refik is not listed on the Shopify App Store yet; these are the plans the listing will carry the day it goes live.

There is no free tier. After the trial you choose one of the three, and your store data stays with us until you ask for its deletion.

One conversation is one shopper session

The allowance is counted in conversations, because a conversation is the unit a store owner can picture and check. Model turns and token counts are our problem, and they stay on our side of the line.

What makes a conversation one conversation?

A session identifier. The counter is keyed on store, billing period and session, so the fifth message of a chat lands on the row the first message already created and the number moves once. Two stores always have separate counters, because the store is part of the key.

How long does a shopper keep the same one?

Seven days, and both sides agree on it: the browser keeps the transcript for seven days and the server keeps the session history for the same seven days. A shopper who returns the next morning carries on in the conversation they started, and it is still counted once.

What about a chat that crosses the month?

It counts in the period it was first counted in, once. A conversation that starts on the last day of a billing period and finishes in the next one keeps answering, and the new period’s counter leaves it alone, so the invoice and the allowance always tell the same story.

When does the console warn you?

When four fifths of the included allowance has been used, the plan screen inside your Shopify admin says so, once for the period. It reads the same counter the storefront gate reads, so the warning and the behaviour come from one number.

The ceiling is written in our code

Shopify’s app pricing carries usage charges but leaves the cap to the app, so we wrote one. Each plan has an included allowance and, on monthly billing, an overage band above it; the two added together are an absolute ceiling for the billing period.

Starter

600

conversations in a monthly period: 300 included, 300 in the overage band.

Growth

2,000

conversations in a monthly period: 1,000 included, 1,000 in the overage band.

Premium

6,000

conversations in a monthly period: 3,000 included, 3,000 in the overage band.

At the ceiling

  • Conversations already running keep running, all the way to the end.
  • The next new conversation goes to your team inbox, so the shopper lands on a person.
  • Anything counted past the ceiling stays out of the billing report altogether.

On the invoice

  • The plan charge and any usage charge both come from Shopify, on your Shopify bill.
  • The console shows our own counts; the billed figure comes from Shopify’s usage record, which we cannot read back.
  • A deletion request takes conversations out of the counter, and the billing record of them is kept as the law requires.
The shape of a billing period, drawn from the ceiling our own code applies — the included allowance, the point where the console speaks, the overage band above it on monthly billing, and the line past which a conversation is handed to a person. The figures for each plan are in the three cards above; this draws what a figure leaves out.

Every figure in this section is read out of the quota table in our own source: included allowance, overage band, overage price and trial share. The plan screen inside your Shopify admin prints the same four numbers, from the same table.

Above the three cards

Past three thousand conversations a month the arrangement becomes a conversation with us rather than a card you click. An Enterprise store gets a cap set on its own record, with an overage band of zero, so the ceiling is a figure both sides agreed before the first invoice. Because our team sets it, the plan screen in your admin points at us instead of at a checkout, and the console says exactly that.

Compare plans

Every row is a value our code applies, in the unit it applies it in. Prices are dollars, allowances are conversations, and the storefront rows follow the one table that decides which surfaces a plan opens.

Starter, Growth and Premium compared row by row: price, allowance, overage, storefront surfaces and support.

The trial row is the monthly allowance times fourteen thirtieths, rounded up, exactly as the trial gate computes it. The yearly rows read zero because Shopify’s usage meter attaches to monthly plans only, which turns the included allowance into the hard stop.

Pick the allowance, then watch it move.

The plan screen inside your Shopify admin shows the counter, the ceiling and the day it resets, from the moment the trial starts.

Billing questions

Eight answers about the money, each one traced to the code or the console screen that carries it.

Who takes the money?
Shopify. The plan is a Shopify app subscription, so it appears on the Shopify invoice you already receive and your card stays where it is. Any usage charge travels the same way, through Shopify’s own usage record.
How do I change plan?
From Shopify’s plan selection page, reached from the plan screen in your Refik console. The install stays in place and support stays out of it. Store admins and owners can make the change; other staff accounts see the screen and a line telling them whom to ask.
How do I stop paying?
Uninstalling Refik ends the subscription, from Settings › Apps in your Shopify admin. Refik stops answering shoppers the moment it is uninstalled. A charge Shopify has already created for the current billing cycle can still land on your next Shopify bill.
What happens the day the trial ends?
Your first paid period opens with the full monthly allowance and a fresh counter. During the trial the allowance is fourteen thirtieths of the monthly one, rounded up, with an overage band of zero and nothing billed; conversations spent in the trial stay in the trial.
Does Refik need access to my theme?
It installs as a theme app extension: the blocks live inside the extension we ship, and you place them from the theme editor like any other block. Your own theme files stay untouched. The catalogue, stock and policy text it answers from are read through the Shopify Admin API.
Do product questions and search help cost extra?
They come with the plan. One table decides which storefront surfaces a plan opens, and from Growth upward it opens all of them: search help, product questions, the question bar, recommendations, the cart surface and the discount-code tool. Starter opens the chat bubble.
More than three thousand conversations a month?
Then the cap is set on your store’s own record, with an overage band of zero, and the figure is agreed with our team before it applies. Tell us the volume you are running and we will put a number on it.
What arrives on the invoice itself?

The plan charge, and a usage charge once overage reporting is switched on for the deployment. Three details of the invoice belong to Shopify rather than to our code, so we are collecting them from the billing documentation instead of describing them from memory.
